I was 40. Lying awake, again. Searching things on my phone, I couldn’t say out loud.
Most of what I found was either clinical, sexualised, or aimed at someone twenty years younger. None of it sounded like me.
I wasn’t just researching. I was looking for a brand that understood what this stage actually felt like. There wasn’t one.
So I asked the question nobody was asking out loud:
“Why does no one talk about this?”
Then I started listening.
I read everything I could find. I joined the conversations already happening quietly in private groups and late-night chats. I called my mum and sister in Italy and asked what their experience had actually looked like.
I went to the women’s health conference, So Hot Right Now, and listened to women describe feelings I’d had but couldn’t name yet.
I came close to going on antidepressants before I realised what was happening to me wasn’t depression. It was hormones. It was perimenopause.
Arousi started in that gap, between what women were experiencing and what anyone was willing to say out loud.

Pleasure didn’t expire at 45.
Sensuality isn’t something to whisper about.
You deserve answers, not silence.
